Yuka Sekiguchi was born in Yokohama, Japan. The Sekiguchi family, in particular, her father and uncle have had profound influence on her - free and adventure spirits. Yuka decided to leave Japan after being graduated from university in 1982. Her destination was Australia. Yuka further studied MA in international relations at ANU. Soon she was introduced to various documentary films at one of the classes. Yuka found her destiny. She decided to become a filmmaker. She has not looked back ever since. After two internationally acclaimed documentaries, "Senso Daughters" and "When Mrs Hegarty Come to Japan", Yuka has taken a challenge to write screenplays. She obtained MA from Macquarie University in Sydney, majoring in screenplays. She is now preparing to direct her original film script - a black comedy with the working title "MY PERFECT MEAT" (aka The Sukiyaki Family).
 
2003 Teaching 'Documentary Production' workshop at Macquarie University.
2002 - present Working as a feature film script editor for NSW Film & TV Office.
Oct 2002 Directed a segment and being interviewed for "Women Filmmakers" - 15th Tokyo International Women's Film Festival for Tokyo International Film Festival.
2002 Started to use a new stage name, YUKA SEKIGUCHI.
  Obtained MA from Macquarie University, majoring in screenplays.
2001 - present Working as consultant/researcher for the documentary department at NHK Educational Programme Division.
2000 - present Writing an original screenplay "MY PERFECT MEAT" (aka The Sukiyaki Family).
1993 - 1998 Worked as consultant producer for various documentary projects in Australia and Japan incl. NHK.
