Yuka
Sekiguchi was born in Yokohama, Japan. The Sekiguchi family, in particular,
her father and uncle have had profound influence on her - free and
adventure spirits. Yuka decided to leave Japan after being graduated
from university in 1982. Her destination was Australia. Yuka further
studied MA in international relations at ANU. Soon she was introduced
to various documentary films at one of the classes. Yuka found her
destiny. She decided to become a filmmaker. She has not looked back
ever since. After two internationally acclaimed documentaries, "Senso
Daughters" and "When Mrs Hegarty Come to Japan", Yuka
has taken a challenge to write screenplays. She obtained MA from Macquarie
University in Sydney, majoring in screenplays. She is now preparing
to direct her original film script - a black comedy with the working
title "MY PERFECT MEAT" (aka The Sukiyaki Family). |
