Natsuko Mineghishi (Soprano)

Originally from Japan, Natsuko has lived in Tokyo, Perth, Melbourne and Amsterdam before coming back to Melbourne. She has a Bachelors with Honours and a Masters Degree in music from the University of Melbourne. She has received numerous scholarships and awards whilst studying music in Australia which enabled her to study at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam in 2003. Last year, Natsuko had her final recital for her Master of Music in Contemporary Music through Non-Western Technique, where she resulted to be the recipient of the highest score in the course.

Natsuko is an active performer and she has been performing as a soloist as well as a singer in some ensembles. She has strong passion for theatrical pieces in particular. Since 2000, it has been her ambition to have concerts which introduce contemporary repertoires of Japanese Art Songs. One of her projects has been accepted by Het Concertgebouw Lunchtime Concert Series, where she had her solo recital in January 2005. Her next concert appearance will be in the 2006 Melbourne Fringe Festival with The Klank Collective Ensemble.

2002 Masters of Music Thesis research topic
"Historic Portrait of Japanese Art Songs"
While Natsuko was studying her master's degree in Melbourne, she wrote a thesis on this topic under the supervision of Dr Cathy Falk. As a result of this research, she began performing and premiering modern Japanese Art Songs at many places where she travelled so far. The most memorable of all was at the Concertgebouw lunch concert series on 15 Jan 2005.
