What is the deadline for grant applications?
The deadline for most programmes in Fiscal 2011–2012 will be Wednesday, 1 December 2010.

Two programmes – the Support Program for Translation and Publication on Japan and the Support Program Documentary Production on Japan have an earlier deadline of Friday, 19 November 2010.

Applications must reach our Sydney office no later than 5.00 pm Eastern Daylight Saving Time on the dates above.
 
What if my application is late or incomplete?
The Japan Foundation will not accept late or incomplete applications under any circumstances. This includes any necessary attachments or supplementary materials. Please ensure that application forms are signed in all necessary places, as forms with missing signatures will not be accepted.

Your application must reach our Sydney office no later than close of business (5.00 pm Eastern Daylight Saving Time) on the date above.
 
Can I send my application by fax or email?
No. Completed application forms must be submitted in their original form, signed by hand in the appropriate places. Please send one copy with your original form.

Faxed application forms, or applications sent by email or other electronic means, will not be accepted.

We request that you do not bind your application.
 
Should I send my application directly to Japan?
No. Applications from Australia must be submitted to our Sydney office. Applications sent directly to Japan will be rejected. Applications should be sent to:

Do I need to send any supplementary materials with my application form?
Only if the Programme Guidelines state that supplementary materials are required.
Please note that the Japan Foundation will not return any part of an applicant’s submission.
 
Will the Japan Foundation acknowledge receipt of my application?
If you require an acknowledgement of receipt, please enclose a stamped, self-addressed postcard with your application. If you prefer notification by email, please indicate your preferred contact email address.
 
Does the Japan Foundation offer any scholarships or study grants?
No. For information on study opportunities in Japan, please contact the Embassy of Japan or your nearest Consulate-General of Japan.
 
My project will introduce Australian culture to Japanese audiences. Can I apply?
No. The Japan Foundation’s main purpose is to introduce Japanese culture to overseas audiences. The Australia-Japan Foundation, an Australian Government organisation, may have appropriate schemes.
 
I am not an Australian citizen or permanent resident. Can I apply?
The Japan Foundation, Sydney only accepts applications from Australian citizens and permanent residents. Please contact the Japan Foundation office in your country, or your nearest Japanese diplomatic mission.
