オーストラリアの小さな街のタウンズヴィル市では、市をあげて、皆様の一日も早い復興と笑顔が戻ることを願っております。
この街に、オーストラリアと日本の相互理解を目的としたオーストラリア、ジャパン、ソサイティという国の機関のタウンズヴィル支部があります。この会では、６００名の市民の署名を集め、市と協力の上、被災された学生さんを、この街にお呼びしたいと考えています。日本の市役所や高校などに問い合わせしていますが、まだ、希望者がありません。
夏休み３週間の英語研修で、費用は市と私共が負担します。対象は、被災された高校生です。
希望する方は、タウンズヴィル市在住のオーストラリア、ジャパン、ソサイティ、タウンズヴィル支部長、中村てる子まで、ご連絡下さい。

日本の皆様、この度の甚大な被害を受け、オーストラリアにいる私達にも何か出来ないかと思い、この7名で10キロを走り、募金を募りました。
4月3日当日、背中にRUNNING　TO SUPPORT　JAPANと書いたゼッケンをつけて走りましたが、走っている最中にも現地の他のランナーなどから多くの応援を日本の皆様に向けて頂きました。
こちらでも多くの人たちが心から心配し、応援しています。現在合計で5,550ドルを集め、オーストラリア赤十字の日本地震基金に全て寄付されました。
遠くオーストラリアにいて、直接皆様のお力になれないのが本当に歯がゆいですが、いつも皆様の無事と回復をお祈りしています。

My wife is Japanese and so part of my family is Japanese. We are both deeply saddened by this tragic event but I know the Japanese people, I know they are strong, resiliant and resourceful. I know Japan will recover from this but the pain will remain for many. This will be especially hard for those who have lost loved ones and they will need help and support. The North of the country will be renewed and thrive once again. The authorities will examine these events to see what can be improved. I congratulate the Japanese people for their discipline and strong sense of community in terrible conditions. You are a truly exceptional society. Whatever the pressures do not sacrifice your unique Japanese way it has made you strong and it will enable you to recover. Our thoughts are with you and we will soon visit Japan again.

Through the News & Media we have been watching in utter disbelief at what has been happening in Japan over the past two weeks. We are continually moved by the courage shown by the Japanese people in response to such an overwhelming natural disaster. I am touched by the bravery, collaboration, and patience of the Japanese people especially the 50 now known as the Fukushima Samurai, selflessly risking their lives to prevent further tragedy for their countrymen in the face of this huge catastrophe.
We will be thinking of all the families and your country as you continue to deal with the aftermath of the earthquake and tsunami.

Our hearts go out to the beautiful people of Japan. The images on our TV screens are heartbreaking. Our younger son married a beautiful Japanese girl after living and working in Japan for many years. My husband and I have visited Japan and were in awe of the beauty of its people and the country. The sights (including Hiroshima where we visited the museum for 3 hours and cried over the horror of it), the tastes, the culture will be with us and in our hearts always. Sayaka's family has visited us in Australia twice. Her elder sister was in Christchurch during the earthquake last year and after a visit here recently and returning to New Zealand, she will fly home to Japan next week. May God give you all the strength, the passion and the resources to rebuild your lives and your homes. My husband wants to cash in two weeks of his sick leave to donate to Japan. He isn't a well man, suffering from migraine with lesions on the brain but he aches with sadness for the people of Japan and feels he must do something.

We cannot possibly understand what you are going through at this difficult time. To experience an earthquake of such terrifying magnitude and then enduring the oncoming tsunami that destroyed so many lives and homes. Though there is one thing that will never be destroyed: the wonderful friendship that exists between Japan and Australia. It has been truly admirable to see the courage, determination and unity of Japan to selflessly work together and pull through these challenging times. It is unfortunate that we can do little to help though our prayers and thoughts are with you.

I have never been to Japan so the only connection that i can have with this country is their language. It's a real pity that Japan has fell into this crisis, but i hope that they will not give up and continue to overcome their obstacles. この度の「平成２３年東北地方太平洋沖地震」で犠牲になられた皆様並びにそのご家族に哀悼の意を表しますとともに、未だ行方が不明な方、負傷された方、孤立し支援の手が届いていない方、避難生活を余儀なくされている方に心からお見舞い申し上げます。また不眠不休で救助活動に当たられている関係各位のご努力に心から敬意を表します。　自然の力に屈することなく、一人でも多くの尊い命が救われ、日本国が一日も早く復興することを願ってやみません。災害のあった翌日、岐阜の美濃加茂市と姉妹都市提携のあるダボ市の逍遙園という日本庭園で開催されたAutumn Festivalに出演してきました。当初は「歓迎　逍遙園」と４ｍｘ２ｍの紙に大書パフォーマンスする予定でしたが、前日からネットのNHKを見て心配していた気持ちからはどうしてもお祭り気分になれずに、早朝のフライトでダボに到着した後に、現地の担当者に文言の変更を提案しました。
ここは日本の被災地へのお見舞いメッセージにするべきだと。ダボのカウンシルの方もとても心配してくださってて、快く変更に同意してくれました。そのパフォーマンスの様子です。 http://www.youtube.com/user/renclub もし日本のみなさんに伝える手段とチャンスがあれば、是非つたえてくださいませんか。色んな人が心配してくれて、「日本はお気の毒だったわね。あなたの家族は大丈夫？」と声を掛けてくれました。ボクにはこうして字を書くことしかできないですけど、もしそちら主催でチャリティのイベントなど行われる場合は是非声を掛けてください。

The images on the daily news are heartbreaking and we cannot fathom the pain those affected by the earthquake/tsunami/nuclear problem, are going through. After living in Japan for over 7 years, it is a second 'home' to us - and its people are 'our people'. We have little doubt that with the stoic and cooperative nature of the Japanese people, reconstruction, repair and renewal will happen. And during that time, Japan's international friends will be 'by their side' to help.
