| The Japan Foundation Headquarters offers a diverse range of grant programmes worldwide, with the aim of deepening mutual understanding between Japan and other countries. The Japan Foundation, Sydney administers a number of these programmes, under the categories of Arts and Cultural Exchange, Japanese Language Education Overseas and Japanese Studies and Intellectual Exchange. |

| How
do the grant programs work? |
| The Japan Foundation grant programmes run according to the Japanese fiscal year, which begins on 1 April and ends on 31 March the following year. Application forms and programme guidelines can be downloaded from this website from September. |

| Who
can apply? |
| Some programmes are open to individuals and some to organisations or institutions. In the case of individual grant applications, applicants must hold Australian citizenship or permanent residency status. There may be other restrictions, so please chgeck the Programme Guidelines carefully before pursuing an application. |

and how can I apply? |
The current round of applications is for projects or activities to be conducted during Fiscal 2008 - 2009 (1 April 2008 - 31 March 2009).
