The Japan Foundation offers numerous training
opportunities for teachers of Japanese. These include intensive
language seminars conducted in Sydney, as well as programmes
conducted by our offices in Japan. |

| One
Day Seminars |
| One-day or after
school seminars are periodically conducted at the Japan Foundation.
These short seminars provide teachers with an opportunity to
gain ideas and resources, brush up their Japanese and enjoy
networking with other teachers of Japanese. |

| Intensive
Seminars for Teachers of Japanese |
| The Japan Foundation will hold the Intensive Seminar for Senior Secondary Teachers of Japanese from 14-17 April 2008 (originally scheduled for January 2008). Applications are open to high school teachers of years 10-12.
This four-day seminar will focus on Japanese language teaching methodology, creating and using teaching resources effectively and learning about present-day Japan. While Japanese language classes will not be a major focus, participants will be immersed in the Japanese language and culture, providing an opportunity for teachers to enhance their own Japanese skills. The seminar also provides an ideal setting to network with other Japanese teachers and share ideas and resources. Native speakers are eligible to apply for this seminar.
The Japan Foundation covers the cost of tuition, accommodation and some meals. Participants will need to arrange their own transport to and from Sydney but may be assisted by their school or educational authority.
We hope that after the seminar our Japanese teachers will return to their classrooms motivated with fresh new ideas and enhanced Japanese language skills to pass onto their students.
Applications must be submitted through Educational Authorities in each state by mid February 2008. Applications sent directly to the Japan Foundation will not be accepted.

Under this grant programme, financial support is provided
to Australian teachers’ associations, academic societies and
higher educational and research institutions carrying out
seminars, workshops, training courses and academic meetings
concerning Japanese-language education.

Training Program for Australian and New Zealand Teachers of
Japanese |
| The In-Japan Training
Program is an intensive training course for primary and secondary
teachers from around Australia and New Zealand. Participants
receive language instruction and acquire practical teaching
strategies for use in the classroom, using Japanese in real-life
situations and furthering their communication skills. Extra-curricular
activities allow participants to deepen their understanding
of Japanese society and culture. |

provide teachers of Japanese with an opportunity to improve
their Japanese language skills and teaching methodology, and
to deepen their knowledge of Japan. |

Japanese Abroad) |
| 海外に長年在住している日本人日本語教師を対象にして、日本語教授法やワークショップを中心に研修を行います。さらに、研修生同士の情報交流などを通じて、研修生が日頃抱えている問題の解決方法や母語話者講師としての役割を共に考えます。
実施期間： 11月〜12月（約1ヶ月）
