Online Basic Japanese Courses for Teachers of Japanese
Stages 1, 2 and 3

The Japan Foundation, Sydney will offer Online Basic Courses for Teachers of Japanese during Term 3 2009, commencing on 27 July.

The online courses are intended for teachers who would like to build up basic language skills, but who do not have access to or cannot attend a continuous course. The course will provide an opportunity to study continuously, and being online, will enable you to study at your own pace, whenever you can connect to the Internet.
 
Online Japanese Writing Course new!

From 2009 we will offer a Japanese writing course for teachers. This course was originally devised and managed by the past Japanese Language Advisers at the Queensland LOTE Centre. For more information about this writing course, please click here.

 

This course:

  • assumes a knowledge of the Japanese syllabary and ability to read hiragana and katakana
  • is designed to be completed in 8 weeks, working at your own pace within the 8 week period
  • is made up of 8 units in each stage, the last being a revision unit
  • includes written tasks to be completed at the end of each unit and sent to the instructor by email or fax
  • offers optional speaking practice with the instructor by phone
The eight units will be available online from each Monday. Previous weeks’ units will remain online for you to refer to during the course. Each unit will finish with a production task sheet. You will be required to complete each week’s production task sheet and fax it to the Japan Foundation by the following Monday.

Application Procedure
 

1. Please visit the sample lesson (ID: guest, PW: view), try the exercises and check that your computer will enable you to fully access the course without problems. You need to make sure that your computer plays the sound, and enables you to read Japanese script and view PDF files.

2. Download an application form and submit it, with cheque payment, to:

3. You will be sent a password to access the online course once we have received payment of your cost fee.
