SAGA NISHIKI

The women of the Saga clan practiced the art in making intricate brocade during the Edo period (1600 – 1868). This classic hand-woven fabric is made using a unique method in which gold and silver lacquered paper is interlaced with dyed silk thread.

Japan’s foremost practitioner of Saga Nishiki and highly respected teacher, Yuriko Mori, will demonstrate her craft in a demonstration and exhibition.
