This exhibition comprises
over 100 works which exemplify the multiplicity and
richness of Japanese handcrafted objects. The exhibition is divided
into two sections – utilitarian objects, which have been created
to be used in the daily lives of people from different regions of
Japan; and creative works of art made by craft artists using skills
nurtured in the artisan’s workshop.
The collection of ceramics,
textiles, metalwork, lacquer ware, paper, and wood and bamboo crafts
will introduce viewers to the traditional materials and techniques
used in craft making from every corner of Japan.
