Tsunami Charity Concert

The devastating tsunami that struck the Indian Ocean on 26 December 2004 motivated a number of Sydney artists to organise a charity fundraising concert, in cooperation with the Japan Foundation, Sydney. ‘Tsunami’ is in fact a Japanese word, reminding us of Japan’s own experience of natural disasters. In light of this, it is perhaps appropriate that this concert will have a distinctly Japanese flavour, featuring traditional Japanese instruments as well as classical musicians and contemporary performers. All funds raised will be donated to UNICEF to support the reconstruction and rehabilitation of vital services for children in the tsunami-affected areas.

Participating artists include:
Aiko Goto (ACO) Violin
