RAKUGO
Japanese Yose-Style Vaudeville in Australia
The Faculty of
Arts and Social Sciences and the Japan Foundation invite you to
attend a performance of Rakugo featuring Sanshotei Charaku, with
Miyakoya Utaroku and Hayashiya Imamaru from the Raguko Artists Association
of Japan.
This performance will feature classical humorous Rakugo items such
as Kami ire (The Wallet) and Funa Toku (The Boatman
Toku) by Sanshotei Charaku. Plus hear the amazing saw-music of Miyakoya
Utaroku and see paper-cutting from Hayashiya Imamaru! Dr Ian McArthur
from the School of Modern Languages will give a short lecture on
the art form of Rakugo and English interpretation throughout the
